Located in the city center, Parasol Inn is walking distance to the famed Sunday Market. Doi Suthep is a must visit, out of the many temples that are dotted in and around Chiang Mai. For the more adventurous, there are hikes, bamboo rafting, and elephant safaris. The hotel is also near the Ping River, source of the more well know Chao Phraya, and at least one meal should be had on board a cruise. And if you wish to return home with some unique souvenirs, you should take a trip to the handicraft villages, and pick from silk and cotton weaving to wood carving.

We stayed at the Parasol for 3 nights. It is a lovely hotel located in a very easy spot to get around the walled city. The Saturday night market was a 10 minute walk, and the Sunday market was right in front of the hotel. The rooms are clean, and colorfully decorated. Even the hallways have cute lamps and seating areas. The staff was very helpful and very friendly. Offering ideas for dinners and shopping. The breakfast that comes with the room is okay, but you can also order off the menu for additional items and cost. Only draw back is no elevator, but the staff helped with the luggage so not a problem, only if you have an issue with stairs. I would stay here again if coming to Chiang Mai.
Shopping Tip: Sunday night market is very nice, big and lots of interesting home made items amongst the typical retail type items

The location is good as it is situated in the centre of the old city, where the Sunday market is, just next to Wat Phuntao and a few minutes stroll to Wat Chedi Luang. The rooms are not bad but those facing the back of the hotel do not have window that offer natural light. So it feels a little gloomy inside the room, though lighting is sufficient. The hotel does not have a lift/elevator, the stairs is not very friendly to the elderly and pregnant women. Do note that the road in front of the hotel is closed to traffic every Sunday from 3-11pm for the Sunday market.
Shopping Tip: The Sunday market is right in front of the hotel, practically everything is available here including T-shirts, souvenirs and handicrafts, foodstuff and even roadside massage.

The hotel is situated in the centre of the old city, next to Wat Phuntao and 5 min to Wat Chedi Luang. The Sunday market is practically at the hotel's doorstep. Its location is good. The rooms are not bad, except those rooms facing the back of the hotel do not have windows facing outward. So people who like some natural light will find the rooms a bit gloomy despite sufficient lighting. The hotel does not have a lift/elevator, the staircase is not very friendly to the elderly and pregnant ladies.
Shopping Tip: The Sunday market is just in front of the hotel. It has everything from foodstuff, souvenirs, T-shirts, arts and crafts and even roadside massage.
